A Week in the Bay

Hello, it’s Shannon!

Marcos and I spent last  week in the Bay Area.  I mentioned in this post that Marcos was born in Oakland and we try to come home at least 3-4 times per year.  Here is  a peek inside our trip….

We stayed in The Mission neighborhood with Julian and Heather.  The Mission is our favorite area in San Francisco because the original culture is still buzzing and you can walk to anything. We had breakfast at an old diner down the street called St. Francis where you feel like you are ordering food in 1947.

During the day we walked around the city, drank coffee at Dynamo, ate ice cream in Dolores Park and stocked up on all natural products at Scarlett and Sage.  I had my first real-deal CA burrito on this trip.  Marcos is always like Qdoba is great but CA does the best burrito …and its true!

The Ramen Shop in Oakland. We took up Julian and Heather’s  entire living room and they didn’t even care.  I think, if we needed to, we could actually all be roommates in a one bedroom apartment . . . maybe.

I caught up with my good friends Meg and Alex at Lolo on Valenica Street. They have the BEST kale salad.

After chilling out in San Francisco, Berkeley, and hanging out with Marcos’s Dad in Oakland we headed to Marcos’s family’s house in Inverness.  His grandparents built the house in the 60’s and the house is filled with natural light.

Every morning I sat in this bay window to drink coffee and read.

We slept in late, listened to Hamilton the musical, took walks, did a wine tour and made yummy dinners with  local cheese, meat, and fish.

The cowgirl creamery cheese mongers let you sample all of their cheese.

At  night we went on a walks down the street near Tomales Bay. Marcos used to spend hours at this beach as a little boy.

If you are interested in renting the house in Inverness, it’s on Airbnb here . Also, if you want a copy of the google map with the wineries, let me know and I’ll send it to you.

We both needed to get a break from our everyday and the trip helped us relax our shoulders and enjoy life without a schedule for a few days. You can checkout some more pics from our trip on instagram @alcottandhigh. It’s good to be back!
