This week is on the blog is all about self care practices as we deal with the sadness that comes from loss. So far we have talked about Comfort Movies and Comfort TV shows. Another weekly comfort for me are podcasts.
There is something old and soothing about voices over the “radio” (Alexa). When I am driving, cleaning or preparing dinner I love Matt and Doree’s Eggcellent Adventure and Forever 35. I listen to over a dozen podcasts but these ones the ones that feel cozy and consistent. The banter between the husband and wife hosts as they navigate IVF is hilarious and sweet. Marcos teases that its “the podcast about white people talking about their dogs.” In all seriousness its kind of nice to listen and hold space for another couple’s struggle because although I am not dealing with IVF, everyone is dealing with something, right?
Doree also hosts Forever 35 with her friend Kate Spencer. They sound like the women on the Delicious Dish skit from SNL. The friends talk about the things they do to take care of themselves with humor and sage advice. I look forward to these podcasts every Monday and Thursday and hope you take a listen!
