Part 2 of our renovation! Read about the first part of the kitchen renovation from last week here.
We extended the countertops and cabinets around the kitchen and matched the cabinets almost exactly, from Ikea. We decided on quartz countertops.
Before…in the midst of it

After…

We moved the stove and put in a giant pantry and chalkboard wall in its place. When we were cooking we noticed we were always opening the back door to let in more natural light. We decided to replace the back door with a full lite door.

The previous tile was a green and grey look from the early 2000’s. It was cool, but kind of looked like a bachelor’s choice in tile. Plus we couldn’t find it anywhere if we had wanted to use it for the kitchen. We installed white subway tile to give the space a clean and bright look. It was also one of the most affordable options.

The pendant lights are from west elm and the paint colors are paper white and ceiling white from Benjamin Moore. The kitchen shelves, holding our beloved cookbooks, are from ikea, and we got a killer deal on our gas range from Best Buy.

The bulk of the project was finished in 8 weeks and we finished the trim work right before Thanksgiving. Also, it was not as easy as the pictures make it look, but it was a labor of love. We spend 90% of our lives in the kitchen and this is one we love to be in. I love that when we cook all of our friends can chat with us and help without being crowded.

I love how much lighter and brighter our home is with the open-concept kitchen.

This project was a labor of love. If you have questions please feel free to comment below and we can talk details.
What I loved most about it was that Marcos and I really decided every detail together. We had concepts and Marcos was able to take our ideas and build them into our kitchen. This man is my dream.
